Paige Bueckers is one of the most scrutinized players in the WNBA on and off the court. The 2025 Rookie of the Year has become the face of the Dallas Wings and carries a lot of weight on her young shoulders. She recently opened up about that pressure and the attention on players’ personal lives.
A’ja Wilson had previously discussed how fans could often intrude into players’ personal lives and fuel speculation on social media. She also recounted the incident in which her fake sonogram images went viral.
Bueckers, in her conversation with the media, agreed with Wilson and said the attention sometimes gets “annoying.”
“Yeah. I’m not going to lie, sometimes it gets annoying. people constantly in your business, the paranoia of always being recorded. Knowing that every single move you make is going to get analyzed. it’s not something ideal and something that you want to deal with, but pressure is a privilege, and to have that and to have so many people look up to me, I really take that with like pride.”
Bueckers also stated that she wanted to become a role model for her siblings and other young players who dream of playing in the league.
“That’s insane to me,” Paige Bueckers after her latest WNBA record
Paige Bueckers’ debut jersey, which she wore in the May 16, 2025, game against the Minnesota Lynx, sold for $64,720 at an auction. She broke A’ja Wilson’s record for the most expensive jersey. Wilson’s 2025 WNBA Finals jersey sold for $32,150.
“That’s insane to me, just thinking about it… I wouldn’t even pay $10 for my own jersey,” Bueckers joked.
Bueckers also expressed happiness that fans are supporting women’s sports. The difference in the prices of the top two most expensive jerseys in the league shows the kind of rise the sport has seen since the arrival of the new generation, including Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers, Angel Reese and Cameron Brink.
Meanwhile, the Wings are preparing to face the Seattle Storm after back-to-back wins. Bueckers leads the team in points, averaging 19.4 per game. However, in the last game against the Las Vegas Aces, it was Azzi Fudd who led the team with 22 points.
