“Should Get All Their Money Back”: Paige Bueckers Brushes Off Poor Shooting Performance With Hilarious Response

The Dallas Wings kicked off their Commissioner’s Cup run in style with a massive 23-point home blowout win vs the Seattle Storm. Aziaha James led the wings in scoring with an 18-point outing, while Bueckers filled the sheet with 10 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.

Dallas held a 20-point lead going into the fourth quarter, by which point the game was essentially over, and most of the Wings’ starters were already on the bench. However, Paige Bueckers wasn’t completely satisfied with her performance, as indicated by her post-game comments:

“Sometimes you gotta win ugly like tonight. I feel bad for the people who are watching; they should get all their money back. I don’t even know what the field-goal percentage was on both sides, but sometimes you gotta win ugly”. – Paige Bueckers during post-game interview after Wings win.

While the Dallas Wings have had better shooting days, ranking third overall in the league in both field goal attempts and field goals made, their 36% shooting last night can definitely be classified as an outlier.

Arike Ogunbowale, one of the team’s veteran leaders, only managed to score nine points on 2-13 shooting, while Maddy Siegrist converted just three of her 10 shots for another nine points. Azzi Fudd’s three-point surge slowed down as well, as the former UConn star made one of her four attempts from outside the arc.

Jose Fernandez Turns Down Potential ‘StudBudz’ Appearance

Before the Wings’ matchup vs Seattle, head coach Jose Fernandez was asked for his thoughts on a potential ‘StudBudz’ appearance. However, the coach was not too thrilled about the potential prospect.

“No. I told Courtney, ‘I don’t want stories to be shared.'”

The first-year Dallas Wings coach did, however, give props to his former player, Courtney Williams, as well as Natasha Hiedeman, on their off-the-court venture.

“I’m extremely proud of both of them. And what they’ve done not only as basketball players in the W but also as incredible people.”

Jose Fernandez coached Courtney Williams during the Lynx guard’s time with the South Florida Bulls from 2012 to 2016.
