LA Sparks Sign Kiana Williams, Waive Sania Feagin in Surprise Roster Move as Injuries Mount

The Los Angeles Sparks made a surprise roster move on Friday that could prove beneficial if the team is able to sustain its new found momentum this season. The team announced the signing of guard Kiana Williams to a rest-of-season contract. To make room on the roster, Los Angeles waived sophomore forward Sania Feagin.

Feagin, who was selected by the Sparks with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, was waived after appearing in three games this season, where she averaged 4.6 minutes per contest.

Her rookie campaign in 2025 showed some promise, as she averaged 1.3 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.3 assists in 16 games off the bench. However, she spent much of the 2026 season sidelined with a leg injury.

The Sparks had hoped she could serve as the team’s second center behind Cameron Brink, but injuries and inconsistent play prevented her from carving out even a role in the rotation.

Kiana Williams Could Provide Valuable Minutes Off the Bench for the Sparks

The move comes after an ankle injury to center Cameron Brink left Los Angeles short on players who can provide solid minutes off the bench. Leading scorer Kelsey Plum also suffered an ankle injury that caused her to miss a few games. The Sparks’ front office acted quickly, adding a proven playmaker who can run an up-tempo offense while keeping the roster at the required 12 players.

Williams appeared in eight games for the Phoenix Mercury in 2026 before being waived. During that stretch, she averaged 4.8 points per game. Now, she heads to Los Angeles as a steadying presence on both ends of the floor.

With Williams in the fold, the Sparks add valuable backcourt depth as they look to build on their momentum this season.  Williams, a playmaking guard who can run an offense, gives Los Angeles an experienced option to help steady the unit whenever her number is called. They’ll get an immediate test for their newest acquisition in a tough matchup against the New York Liberty on Sunday.
