Gabby Williams Playfully Teases Kaitlyn Chen About Facing Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd

After emerging victorious over the Dallas Wings on Wednesday night, Golden State Valkyries’ star forward Gabby Williams was seen indulging in some postgame banter with her teammate, guard Kaitlyn Chen.

Following her team’s 91-80 victory over the Wings, Chen, one of the standout performers on the night, spoke to reporters. During the press conference, the playmaker was asked whether she felt an extra motivation to perform, given that several of her close friends were on the opposing side. The question specifically referenced star guards Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd, both of whom Chen played alongside during her time with the UConn Huskies.

While Chen clarified that it was not necessarily the case, she further added that she was excited to see her college basketball teammates. In response to Chen’s statement, Gabby Williams jokingly teased Chen.

“She’s lying. In the locker room she has their (Fudd and Bueckers’) faces with X’s on them. No, I’m kidding. Just kidding,” Williams said.

This lighthearted moment came on the backdrop of Williams and Chen posting an impressive 25 and 15 points, respectively, to help the Valkyries go third in the Western Conference standings with an overall record of 10-5. The Golden State Valkyries will now play the Minnesota Lynx on Friday, June 19.
