More often than not, veteran analyst Jason Whitlock sings the praises of Caitlin Clark as a WNBA star. This time around, Whitlock is criticizing the Indiana Fever guard while giving props to her longtime nemesis.
On the latest edition of his “Fearless” show, Whitlock claimed that Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese has been displaying more maturity than Clark this season.
“I’m looking at Angel Reese grow up in real time, and this is only her third season. Angel Reese is growing up and conducting herself on the court more appropriately than Caitlin Clark. Those are facts.”
Whitlock added that WNBA players have “figured out” Clark, saying that CC’s opponents are no longer afraid of her at this point.
The Clark-Reese comparisons gained traction on social media once again after the Fever squared off with the Dream for the second time this season. In that Thursday night matchup, the Dream won 108-101 to even their season series at 1-1.
Reese led her team with 21 points on 8-for-14 shooting from the field, along with 11 rebounds. The Dream’s newly acquired All-Star, who currently leads the league with 12.2 boards per game, had to play with an abundance of caution after picking up four fouls in the second half.
Meanwhile, Clark had 26 points, two rebounds, and seven assists in this game. Like Reese, she was saddled with foul trouble, logging five personal fouls against the Dream.
“We Have So Many Different Weapons”: Angel Reese Flexes Dream’s Depth After Win Over Fever
Even with Angel Reese sitting on the bench due to foul trouble, the Dream’s rotation players were able to hold the fort in their matchup against the Fever.
After the Dream secured their 10th win of the season, Reese gave props to her teammates for stepping up.
“It’s a breath of fresh air to be able to know that, even when I do sit down, I’m not worried…We have so many different weapons with different players on this team. So, it’s really cool.” [1:45]
In the win over the Fever, the Dream’s bench unit outscored Indiana’s reserves. Rookie Isobel Borlase led the way with nine points, two rebounds, and one block.
