How Much Does Caitlin Clark Make? Breaking Down WNBA Star’s Estimated Salary Under WNBA’s Proposed New CBA Deal

After Caitlin Clark and Breanna Stewart called for a bargaining session, the WNBA and WNBPA met for a 12-hour meeting at the Langham Hotel in New York on Wednesday, with no new CBA in place.

USA Today writer Meghan L. Hall shared the new numbers reportedly submitted by the WNBA in its latest proposal. The numbers are as follows:

    • Salary Cap: $6.2M in Year 1, growing over life of deal
    • Avg. Salary: $570,000, growing to $850,000 over life of deal
    • Max Salary: More than $1.3M in Year 1, growing to nearly $2M over life of deal

The numbers were shared on social media, drawing mixed reactions from fans. Many wondered what this would mean for the salary of one of the league’s most popular players, Caitlin Clark.

With Clark being on a rookie contract, her WNBA salary is expected to be closer to $400,000-$500,000. A significant jump from her current deal, which pays her an average salary of $84,514 per season.

Following Wednesday’s meeting, WNBPA executive director Terri Carmichael Jackson said the CBA conversation is “going in the right direction.” WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert also addressed reporters after Wednesday’s meeting.

“It’s complex,” Engelbert told reporters. “We’re working towards a win-win deal like we’ve been saying, a transformational deal for these players that balances all the things we’ve been trying to balance with continued investment by our owners, et cetera. So we’re working hard towards that, and we still have work to do.”

Caitlin Clark makes history after an eight-month injury absence

Caitlin Clark helped Team USA to a commanding victory against Senegal on Wednesday as she made her senior debut. The team won 110-46, and Clark recorded 17 points and 12 assists.

This was the Indiana Fever star’s first official game since her campaign last season was cut short by a series of groin and quad injuries.

Clark was limited to 13 games, last playing in July 2025. She averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game for the Fever. The team reached the WNBA semifinals despite being without several key contributors.

Clark’s 12 assists are the second-highest assist tally in FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying tournament history. The team will return on Friday to face Puerto Rico.
