Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever are in a tough spot right now. There has been a lot of speculation looming large around Indiana’s roster. And Clark has been the center of attention for the most part.
After the altercation with Alyssa Thomas, Clark had to step out of the game due to her recurring back injury. She then had to miss the Fever’s next game vs the LA Sparks. Sophie Cunningham has been declared out sick and has not played in recent practice sessions. But the topic about her two stars was not touched upon by coach Stephanie White. The fans were disappointed, furious and speculative.
Cunningham has been one of the important players for White coming off the bench this season. Her physicality, attitude on the court and chemistry with Clark has been a huge help in some games.
However, with Cunningham out alongside Clark, Fever might be in deep trouble for the upcoming games. They would certainly need players like Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchel to step up even more to keep the winning momentum going.
Stephanie White’s comment about Caitlin Clark in Fever’s media availability
White did not give any major update on Clark’s back injury or Cunningham’s health.
“No. She’s going to be doing an individual workout today,” White answered when asked Clark’s status (1:22).
White also said that a break of more than a week between the two games would certainly help her team work on all the “spillages”. She wants her team to focus on their defensive strategies before facing the Aces on July 5.
