Gilbert Arenas Makes Ja Morant and Kyrie Irving Comparison After Joy Taylor’s Caitlin Clark Rant Goes Viral

Gilbert Arenas is again backing Caitlin Clark after WNBA analyst Joy Taylor expressed her thoughts on the popular “Face of the WNBA” debate. After ESPN’s Lisa Leslie labeled A’ja Wilson as the “Face of the WNBA,” fans called her out on social media, saying the title belonged to the Indiana Fever superstar.

Taylor agreed with Wilson, while Arenas, an NBA player-turned-analyst, chose Clark.

In an Instagram video, Taylor was furious with fans criticizing Wilson, a four-time MVP and three-time champion, and saying that Clark was the face of the league:

“It’s so demeaning to the league and the players in the WNBA, it’s so ridiculous all-around. You would never talk about a male player like this. You would not have the audacity to fix your lips to say that a college player was better than the best player in a professional league before ever setting foot in that league.”

Taylor also highlighted the high-profile debate over Clark’s constant run-ins with officials and the foul on her against the Mercury, saying that it was a physical league and no one deserves increased protection:

“You would never say that a rookie.. or a second-year player should be protected by the league and the referees.”

Meanwhile, Arenas, who has been a vocal supporter of the WNBA’s younger players, highlighted the difference between the best player and the league’s most marketable players:

“Shes not the BEST wnba player (Correct) Angel reese is not the BEST Wnba player (Correct) they are the most marketable to the masses! The sell product! The product the past wouldnt sell! The past wanted u to respect their game! these new girls are selling Everything else 🔥 Kyrie, JA VS jokic! Jokic 3 times MVP and no ads dollars generated! Ja and kyrie was printing money with they style of play!”

Kyrie Irving and Ja Morant’s streetball playing style naturally brought more eyes to the league, even though Nikola Jokic was the best player and perennial MVP around the 2020s.

Leslie and Taylor have faced criticism for viewing Wilson as the face of the league. However, nobody can deny the impact Clark has on the WNBA in terms of viewership, advertisements and jersey sales.

“The WNBA would be better without Caitlin Clark,” analyst shares take on Caitlin Clark’s impact on the league

Sports analyst Emmanuel Acho did not mince his words when he talked about the Caitlin Clark saga going on in the WNBA. She has been in the tabloids for multiple reasons since the 2026 WNBA season began. Acho believes that she was a bigger distraction for fans than the impact she has whenever she takes the floor:

“The WNBA would be better without Caitlin Clark, because she is a bigger distraction than she is an additive.”

This is just another addition to a string of opinions floating on social media about Caitlin Clark and her issues on the court. While some have criticized her for her altercations with officials and shooting woes, others have backed her even after her struggles.
