This week, fans are buzzing about Caitlin Clark’s heated exchange with Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White. Though a Skip Bayless tweet about White’s dismissal appears to have been posted prematurely, one podcaster thinks that White is indeed on the cusp of getting fired.

On an episode of “520 in the Morning,” one-time NBA champion Jeff Teague and his co-hosts watched the clip of Clark arguing with White during a game against the Portland Fire. Looking at the footage, Teague offered his prediction for White.

    “Yeah, she’s getting fired.”

As the clip showed White pointing to rookie Raven Johnson and ordering her to take Clark’s seat on the bench, Teague gave a satirical interpretation of the dialogue.

“She [Clark] can’t guard. Get the black girl in there.”

Teague and his co-hosts also reacted to the sight of Clark putting up her hands; the “520 in the Morning” crew perceived this as the two-time WNBA All-Star emphatically demonstrating that she’s playing solid defense.

Despite White’s tactical adjustments and rotations, the Fever ended up losing 100-84 to the expansion team. As a result, Indiana dropped to 4-4 for the season, losing back-to-back games after pulling off a three-game winning streak.

Just like last season, the Fever will have to work on consistency as they look to secure a better playoff position this time around.

Speaking at a media availability on Monday, Stephanie White shrugged off concerns that her relationship with Caitlin Clark has been strained.

“I was challenging a player… I don’t often think it becomes an issue if you’re watching it in men’s sports…My relationship with Caitlin is great. I love Caitlin. I ride with her.”

This will be the second season that White will be coaching Clark, who was under the tutelage of Christie Sides when she entered the league in 2024.
