Fever Insider Exposes Glaring Stephanie White Problem and Raises Even Bigger Caitlin Clark Question

The differences between Caitlin Clark and Stephanie White have been one of the most talked-about topics in the WNBA world. That has even reflected in the Indiana Fever’s run this season. The doubts were raised again after the Fever’s last game against the Portland Fire, in which Clark did not play.

WNBA analysts have questioned Clark’s absence from the lineup amid uncertainty about her injury. HC White said her back was sore, and the training staff decided not to make it worse by playing through the injury.

WNBA journalist Chole Peterson, in a conversation, raised some questions about how the team has managed Clark’s injury. She said:

“Pregame (Steph), she said (Clark) she is healthy, and we’re not managing anything, but there is the question of if she is healthy and they’re not managing anything, why is she not playing? … Steph White did not directly answer I would say. She said her back is not sore and anything more than that, that’s the training staff.”

Peterson also asked if the new injury was part of the “ongoing thing” or was it a “separate thing?” The Fever can not afford to have cracks in the locker room if they are eyeing a title this season.

Clark’s groin injury kept her out of the last season, and the management might be moving cautiously with her. However, if she is healthy, her place is on the court, alongside her squad.

Caitlin Clark opens up about her future

Caitlin Clark was recently featured on Candace Parker and Aliyah Boston’s podcast show, Post Moves, where she talked about the current Fever squad and her future with the team. After she mentioned that Boston became the first player in the league to sign an EPIC (Exceptional Performance on Initial Season), the 2023 WNBA Rookie of the Year stated:

    “I love playing with you.”

Caitlin Clark also reminded Boston that while she was bound to the Fever till 2029, Clark was due an extension next year. She added:

“Well, I’m only signed until well, next year. Unless I sign my EPIC.”

At this point, it’s almost clear that Clark will be offered an extension sooner rather than later, given her impact on and off the court. However, the rift between her and HC Steph would have to be worked out as soon as possible.

The 2024 WNBA ROTY has been pivotal to the team’s offense and can be the difference maker in the later phase of the season. For now, she needs to get healthy quickly.
