Did Candace Parker Really Say Caitlin Clark Will Never Match A’ja Wilson’s Greatness? Viral Claim Debunked

It was rumored on social media that Candace Parker supposedly took a dig at Caitlin Clark by comparing her to the WNBA legend A’ja Wilson. Clark was part of Team USA as the senior women’s national team completed the qualifiers for the FIBA World Cup. She was the MVP in the qualifiers, scoring 11.6 points and 6.4 assists.

A’ja Wilson, on the other hand, has been dominating the WNBA circuit for a long time, winning three championships, four MVP honors, and three Defensive Player of the Year awards. An account named sportssteady on Instagram recently shared an awkward claim on social media, writing:

“Candace Parker stirred up debate with this take. 👀

She says Caitlin Clark will never be as great as A’ja Wilson.”

Notably, the social media account in question is also notorious for posting some outrageous claims. Moreover, there is no evidence of Candace Parker giving that statement. Hence, the post seems to be false.

Moreover, Wilson and Clark play different positions, and comparing players of different eras has always been difficult. Even though the Fever guard is a talented youngster, reaching the level of domination that the 7-time WNBA All-Star has had would be an uphill task.

Indiana Fever congratulates Caitlin Clark on FIBA World Cup qualifiers MVP title

Caitlin Clark’s WNBA team, the Indiana Fever, congratulated their guard on social media for performing at an MVP-level in the World Cup qualifiers. The Iowa native put up 11.6 points every game and dished out 6.4 assists after returning from a groin injury that kept her off the court for the entire 2025 season.

The Fever’s social media account wrote on X:

    “MVP CC
congrats to Caitlin Clark on being named the MVP of the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament”

After the WNBA and the players’ association reached an agreement on the new CBA deal, the 2026 WNBA season is set to begin as scheduled on May 8. The Fever will once again look to dominate the regular season with the superstar guard back in the rotation.
