Caitlin Clark did not mince her words while giving her thoughts on the new CBA, which the WNBPA and WNBA agreed on earlier this month.
Clark appeared on NBC’s pregame show ahead of Monday’s matchup between the Denver Nuggets and the Golden State Warriors. She cited the wider impact that the new CBA would have on women’s sports, pointing to the increased salary and revenue sharing between the league and its players.
“I think it sets a precedent for all of women’s sports going forward, not just women’s basketball,” Clark said. “That we’re truly valued and the product that we put on the floor is valued.”
Starting from the 2026 WNBA season, the salary cap for teams starts at $7 million, with average salaries projected around $600,000, minimum salaries near $300,000, and max contracts around $1.4 million.
According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, this deal sees the players receive an unprecedented raise, nearly 400%.
How much will Caitlin Clark earn in the 2026 WNBA Season with the new CBA?
With wages set to be restructured under the new CBA, the players will get a significant pay raise to start the 2026 WNBA season. Caitlin Clark’s rookie-scale contract under the old CBA would have seen her earn $85,873 in the 2026 season.
According to a report from The Athletic, she will earn $527,155 under the new deal. A new rule called EPIC (exceptional players on initial contracts) will allow players on rookie contracts to sign max extensions entering their fourth year, if they have made an All-WNBA team in their first three years.
So, Clark, who made the All-WNBA First Team in her rookie season, will be eligible to sign a max extension with the Fever in 2027.
Clark last played for the Fever in July 2025 as she was limited to just 13 games that season due to quad and groin injuries. Her return to the WNBA could be less than a month away, with the Fever’s first preseason game scheduled for Apr. 26.
