Caitlin Clark’s fans slammed the Phoenix Mercury’s X post about Alyssa Thomas’ playmaking and her ability to make the players around her better. The Mercury displayed a graphic showing Thomas leading the WNBA in total assists, 3-point assists and assist points created.

The Mercury stepped it up a notch with their caption on that post, which said:

“If there was a category for making everybody around her better, AT would be leading the @wnba in that too.”

Clark’s fans took exception to it, as many believe that the title belongs to the Fever superstar. Clark is leading the league in assists per game, averaging 9.0 per game in five outings. Thomas, in eight games, is averaging 8.1 apg. On top of it, Thomas’ Mercury fell to 2-6 on the season after losing Wednesday’s game to the Liberty.

    One fan wrote:

“They’re 2-6 who is she making better?”

    Another added:

“No, no chance actually. Nice try though. We all know that belongs to Caitlin Clark. Thanks for trying.”

    One fan said:

“2-6 and still not afraid of flexing your star. I respect it.”

    One fan wrote:

“Surely she’s also leading in assists per game and leading her teams to wins, while doing so right? Right?”

    Another added:

“Flexing that she makes everyone else better when your record is 2-6 is 😭.”

    One fan said:

“She’s literally trying so hard to be better than CC in the assist category; she’s no longer trying to score or even win.”

ESPN ranks Caitlin Clark as the fourth-best playmaker of all time, ahead of Alyssa Thomas

Caitlin Clark continues to leave fans in awe of her game throughout her young career. If it wasn’t clear already, she’s already considered one of the greatest playmakers the WNBA has seen. ESPN released a list of the greatest WNBA playmakers of all-time, in which Clark ranks fourth, trailing Chelsea Gray at No. 1, Ticha Penicheiro at No. 2 and Sue Bird at No. 3.

Meanwhile, Clark leads Courtney Vandersloot at No. 5, Lindsey Whalen at No. 6, Diana Taurasi at No. 7 and Alyssa Thomas at No. 8. It’s hard to imagine that the Mercury didn’t release their post shouting out Thomas’ playmaking after these rankings were released on Wednesday.

However, that’s all speculation for now. Whether Thomas is the best at making players around her better is up for debate, but her credentials as one of the greatest at it all-time aren’t. It’s what helped her enter ESPN’s top-10 list.
