Amidst her busy schedule with the Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark has found time to stay up-to-date with the 2026 NBA Finals. If Clark had her way, there would be no sweep taking place in the Knicks-Spurs series.
CC, in fact, wants the Finals to go the distance. And it’s not because she’s rooting for San Antonio to eventually overcome New York.
“I’m kind of indifferent on who wins, but I’m such a basketball fan that I would love to see it go seven games…It’s been such a great series,” Clark told reporters ahead of the Fever’s Saturday night matchup.
Clark, who is in New York City to lead the Fever against the Liberty, witnessed firsthand the excitement of the fanbase towards their hometown Knicks.
“I was out to dinner last night. It was fun to see the buzz around the city and how passionate fans are.”
As fate would have it, the two-time WNBA All-Star and her Fever squad were in the Big Apple on the night of Game 2 between the Knicks and the Spurs. Though the game was held down in San Antonio, Knicks fans were abuzz as Jalen Brunson came up in the clutch once again to steer his team to a 2-0 series lead.
In order for Clark to get her wish, the Spurs will have to win three times in Madison Square Garden. If Victor Wembanyama’s crew somehow pulls this off, the basketball world will be treated to a Game 7 for the ages.
“Those Opinions Don’t Matter”: Caitlin Clark Opens Up on Fever’s Mindset Towards Outside Opinions
In the same media session, Caitlin Clark talked about how she and her teammates deal with what everybody else has been saying about the Fever.
“We don’t sit there talking about what you guys are writing and what’s in the media…We don’t want that coming into our locker room…Those opinions don’t matter.”
Clark also emphasized that she has her teammates’ backs “more than anybody” and that she believes her Fever crew has her back as well.
