Azzi Fudd’s pairing with Paige Bueckers has been the talk of the town since Fudd was drafted by the Dallas Wings with the top overall pick in the 2026 WNBA draft. The two guards are an off-court couple in addition to their on-court chemistry during their college days with the UConn Huskies. In her first press conference after the draft, Fudd faced questions related to that in her media session.
When Fudd sat with the media during a press session, reporters put up questions about her personal life with Bueckers. However, the team personnel quickly shot down the questions about Fudd’s personal life and said:
“I understand why you asked that question. We’re gonna respectfully decline from going into the players’ personal lives, next question.”
Several analysts have been skeptical about the two guards playing on the same team and being a couple off the court. While that dynamic might bring criticisms from several sections of fans, the precedent of Fudd and Bueckers playing together highlights that they brought top-level performance for the team when playing together.
