Azzi Fudd just announced herself in the WNBA. Dallas Wings pulled off a blowout 92-69 win vs the Mystics. They had a shaky start to the season. After head coach Jose Fernandez publicly criticising his team, calling them selfish and some unrest among fans, this win would bring a lot of calm to the locker room.
Azzi Fudd was once again not in the starting 5. However, coming off the bench, she scored 12 points with 2 rebounds and 3 assists in 24 minutes. This was her first game with double digit points. He scored 6-9 from the field which showcased her quality.
This was well and truly a breakout game for rookie season of the number one pick. After a lot of discourse over whether she deserved the number one pick or not, this game would be a huge boost in her chances to get into the starting 5 as well as proving her worth. After the game, Jason Whitlock took to his X account and praised Azzi Fudd. He also had a bold claim for Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark’s future.
“Azzi Fudd is a developing problem. She’ll be starting the rest of the year. Dallas has something serious building. Paige is gonna win big before CC,” Jason Whitlock posted.
Jason Whitlock goes back on his harsh assessment of Azzi Fudd
This post commending Azzi Fudd from Jason Whitlock would have come to a shock to many people. Since the WNBA draft, Whitlock had a lot of words for Dallas drafting Fudd as number one pick, Paige and Azzi’s relationship and Fudd’s quality. And most of those words were not in favor of any of them.
He believed that Wings had drafted Fudd only to satisfy the Paige-Azzi relationship narrative. He said that Fudd was a bench player at best and shouldn’t have been number one pick. He also had some questionable, mostly controversial words about their relationship.
