Dallas Wings star Arike Ogunbowale mentioned 2026 WNBA draft’s first overall pick and fellow teammate Azzi Fudd after Monday’s 92-69 win against the Washington Mystics.
Ogunbowale finished with 16 points on 4-of-10 shooting, including 2-of-5 from the 3-point line. She also added three assists and three steals. Meanwhile, Fudd came off the bench to score 12 points in 24 minutes while also contributing with two rebounds, three assists and one steal.
After the game, Ogunbowale was asked if the 2-2 Wings were the deepest team she has ever played on. She highlighted several names on the roster who all chose to be here instead of going somewhere else in the offseason, including herself. However, she joked that Fudd wasn’t among those, though, but even then Ogunbowale thinks the former UConn is liking it here.
“Yeah for sure, this is one of the deepest and, you know, I said this earlier, it’s a lot of people who want to be here,” Ogunbowale said. “Like, you know, the free agency is just signed — she could have signed to a lot of different places and she chose to be here. Lan could have went to a lot of different places and she chose to be here. Alicia could have went to a lot of places, she chose to be here. I could have went places and I chose to be here.
“So obviously AZ didn’t have a choice, but she’s happy to be here. But we just have a group that wants to be here, wants to win, wants to just get in line with what Jose has.”
Ogunbowale thinks Dallas is in a really good position with the organization operating in a good way.
Azzi Fudd Marks Dallas’ Win With Season-High Performance
Azzi Fudd is slowly becoming the player that everyone in college basketball feared. Apart from a season-high 20 points, Fudd shot incredibly well, shooting 6-for-9 from the field and finished with a +20 plus-minus in 24 minutes off the bench.
What’s noteworthy is that Fudd maintained her composure throughout the game and never appeared to be making any rookie mistakes.
With Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale meshing well, it’s only time before Dallas finds their winning combination and gets on a run, making Ogunbowale’s points true.
