Dallas Wings guard Azzi Fudd is one of the most outstanding rookies in the 2026 WNBA season and continues to solidify her case for the Rookie of the Year award. One of the league’s best 3-point shooters, she has become a focal point of Dallas coach Jose Fernandez’s offense. She is averaging 13.1 points, shooting 37.5% from 3-point range, with 1.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.0 blocks per game.
Reflecting her impact, Fudd broke a 29-year-old WNBA rookie record. On Sunday on X/Twitter, sports statistics platform Real App uploaded a post that reported that Fudd has logged the most steals and blocks by a guard in her first 20 WNBA games since 1997. She has tallied 35 steals and 20 blocks in Dallas’ 13-8 start. (She missed one game this season.)

The statistics show that Fudd’s impact has come in two ways: on offense and on defense. Her record-breaking feat came during the Wings’ 89-76 victory at the Toronto Tempo on Sunday. Fudd put up 17 points, three rebounds, two assists, three steals and a block in 30 minutes.
Azzi Fudd credited her team’s defense on 53-point record holder Marina Mabrey en route to the win
Besides the victory, another accomplishment the Dallas Wings had was containing Toronto Tempo guard Marina Mabrey, who was fresh off her historic 53-point game on June 25. During her postgame news conference, when asked how the team handled Mabrey, Azzi Fudd credited her team for an overall great job of guarding her. Mabrey finished with 19 points on 7-for-18 shooting in 31 minutes.
“I thought they did a great job of just being aggressive, pressuring her, making things difficult,” Fudd said (Timestamp: 0:43). “She’s super skilled and can score from wherever and whenever. So, the goal is to make things hard, and just make it hard to kick the ball out. So, I thought we did a great job of team defense on her and then, scrambling, rotating out of it as well.”
