Toronto Tempo’s head coach, Sandy Brondello, had nothing but praise for Paige Bueckers before the team’s next game against the Dallas Wings on Sunday, July 5. The superstar has helped the team to a 12-8 record. Besides, she has also been popular off the court, with the most All-Star fan votes this season. And it seems the opponent head coach has also become a fan of hers.
Tempo coach praised the young star before the game:
“She’s a generational talent and she’s gonna keep getting better and better. She saves the day, she has made so many big shots.”
In the team’s last win over the Connecticut Sun, Bueckers led the squad with 25 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. Averaging 20.9 ppg, 3.9 rpg, and 6.0 apg, the guard has taken the reins of the team, alongside her off-court partner and teammate, Azzi Fudd.
As Brandello said, Bueckers has made some big shots in clutch moments to win her team some crucial games. The Sun game was also close, where she helped the team take a lead in times of need. Moreover, her ability to somehow make some out-of-the-mind circus shots through contact has been the talk of the town.
Paige Bueckers leads the Wings to an important win
The Wings lost two consecutive games before their last win. The team has recently hit a roadblock with Odyssey Sims sidelined due to a left ankle injury. A lot of the responsibility has fallen on Bueckers.
Moreover, Arike Ogunbowale has also been in an offensive slump for the last few games. Her last game with double-digit scoring came on June 20. Even though Fudd has adjusted well to the starting squad, her shooting has also been inconsistent.
With a majority of things against the team, Bueckers and Co. managed to edge out the Sun with an 86-83 win, in which the guard had an all-around performance.
