“Another DeWanna Bonner”: Fever Fans Give Verdict as Azura Stevens Continues Teasing Indiana Move Amid Looming Free Agency

Indiana Fever fans have spoken out on an early verdict on Azura Stevens, calling her the next “DeWanna Bonner” after she shared a picture, teasing a potential move to Indiana this summer.

Stevens, who played 44 games for the Los Angeles Sparks in 2025, averaged 12.8 points and 8.0 rebounds per game and will be an unrestricted free agent. As fans begin to speculate about her future, she shared pictures of herself on Instagram, wearing different WNBA jerseys, including Indiana’s.

Fans noted that, among the pictures shared by Stevens, Indiana was the only team she had not played for in her career.

While some fans were excited at the idea of Stevens joining the team, others were not as keen on the idea, comparing her to DeWanna Bonner.

“Another Bonner. Will be 31 years old and just want to stand at the 3pt line & chuck shots up like she’s a SG. Refuses to go down low & rebound/defend bigs. Don’t have the money, she’s looking for a final big payday like all the other 30yr+ veterans. Fever need a PF/C banger,” one fan wrote.

“I think she’s gonna go wherever pays her the most money and that’s not gonna be the Fever,” another fan wrote.

    “She’s a CC hater,” a fan said.

“Sabally did this last year and went to Phx. Don’t think anything of it,” a fan opined.

“She doesn’t like them. Just bait,” one fan said.

Fans were excited after DeWanna Bonner joined Caitlin Clark and Co. last summer. What followed was a failed stint as she only played nine games before asking to leave the team, citing a “poor” fit.

The Indiana Fever prioritize Kelsey Mitchell re-signing in free agency

With free agency approaching, the Indiana Fever need to offset the loss of Chloe Bibby, who was selected by the Portland Fire in the 2026 WNBA expansion draft. But, before that comes a bigger priority, one that the Fever’s general manager, Amber Cox, has been vocal about since October.

“I’m going to sound like a broken record from last year. The priority will be Kelsey Mitchell, and making sure she remains in a Fever jersey,” Cox said.

Mitchell’s play last season, which saw the team reach the WNBA semifinals, has made her the team’s priority in free agency. So, while players like Azura Stevens continue to move the rumor mill, the Fever is expected to lock down Mitchell before any additional moves.
