Angel Reese has found new energy with the Atlanta Dream this season. In an efficient company of Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray, the center’s offensive production has impacted the team’s results, which are 8-4. Former WNBA player and basketball coach Cynthia Cooper gave her flowers to Reese and praised her quick adjustment with the Dream without making much noise.
Reese has been big on the board, leading the team this season in rebounds per game (11.9). When Cooper was asked about a player in the pro league who has not been talked about much, she chose the Maryland native. She said:
“I say Angel Reese because Angel Reese has taken Atlanta to a different level, and she hasn’t been loud about it, she hasn’t been overbearing about it, she just rolled up her sleeve and went to work. She does it now from the 3-point line, she is an amazing 3-pointer, she has taken them off the dribble, and of course, her signature rebounding, but instead of going back up, she is putting it in, so dare I say? Angel Reese.”
Even though Cooper believed otherwise, Reese has some work to do in her deep shots. She was recently criticized heavily on social media for shooting a big airball against the Indiana Fever. In the Dream’s last loss to the New York Liberty, the center shot 0-4 from deep. For the season, she is averaging a dismal 11.8% from the 3-point line.
However, the season has just started, and the Dream center has all the time to work on whatever little loopholes she encounters in her performances.
Angel Reese opens up about getting technical foul against the Liberty
Angel Reese was assessed a technical foul in the fourth quarter of the Dream’s loss to the Liberty, 90-104, for an unsportsmanlike offensive foul. When asked about her response to the foul, she said:
“You only can control what you can control. It was a tough possession because I thought it was legal position but you got to move on and keep it pushing. I think my team has kept me lifted. But yeah, it was a tough stretch. We talked about managing emotions better, and I think I just been doing a good job of that, and improving on it.”
Even though the team registered its fourth loss of the season, Angel Reese scored a season-high 25 points and nine rebounds, including six offensive boards. However, she was not happy with her feat, as it didn’t amount to a win for the team.
Reese expressed her thoughts during the post-game session and said that she could have done a better job and would work on her game. The team will next face the Toronto Tempo, who suffered a difficult loss to the Washington Mystics, and look to continue their winning run.
