In the Atlanta Dream’s 82-75 win over the Chicago Sky on Tuesday, forward Angel Reese did more than help her team win; she made a small piece of basketball history.
Reese had another double-double performance with 17 points and 17 rebounds, which is not only the most by a WNBA player through her first 75 career games but now ranks among the second-highest totals in NBA and WNBA history over the last 40 years.
The 24-year-old has now reached 57 double-doubles in just 75 games, tying NBA great Blake Griffin for the second-most double-doubles through a player’s first 75 career games. Only Shaquille O’Neal has more with 63 to his name.
Celebrating the achievement, Reese had a simple two-word reaction:
“Elite company,” she wrote on her Instagram Story.

With this milestone, Reese also became the first player in WNBA history to record 957 rebounds through her first 75 games. She surpassed Tina Charles (850) and Yolanda Griffith (834).
This was also Reese’s fifth straight and eighth double-double of the season. She achieved the milestone with six minutes left in the third quarter.
Angel Reese gets warm welcome in old stomping grounds
Reese, the No. 7 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, received a loud ovation from the sellout crowd when her name was announced as a starter before the game.
Tuesday night also marked the first time Reese played a WNBA game in that building wearing anything other than a Chicago Sky jersey.
Reese appeared in 64 games across two seasons with the Sky. During her time in Chicago, she averaged 14.1 points and 12.9 rebounds per game. She was a two-time All-Star and led the league in rebounding in both seasons.
Reese’s performance helped the Dream improve to 8-3 and remain atop the Eastern Conference standings as they continue their strong start to the season. The Dream will return to action on Thursday night against the New York Liberty.
