Aliyah Boston is set to appear in her fourth All-Star Game as one of the Indiana Fever’s three starters in the lineup. Off the court, she is also a co-host with Candace Parker on their podcast, ‘Post Moves with Candace Parker & Aliyah Boston.’ While she discusses everything related to basketball with the former WNBA players, there’s one of Parker’s records she is after.
Parker was one of the most talented players in the league, who showed promise since her debut season. She scored 34 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists in her debut game to put everyone on notice. Moreover, Parker made seven appearances as an All-Star in her career and Boston seemingly has eyes on it.
During the team’s practice session on Tuesday, when she was asked about chasing Parker’s seven All-Star appearances, the Fever center said:
“100%. I talk to her all the time. I’m like, ‘Girl, when you look at some of the records you break,’ that’s not done since Parker. I am like, ‘that’s insane.’ She is like ‘you know it doesn’t matter.’ I am like, ‘no, it’s insane.’ So, I mean anything to keep my name up there with Candace, I think would be really dope.”
One of the crazy records Boston talked about would be Parker’s feat of winning the regular-season MVP in her debut season in 2008. She is the only one to pull that off in WNBA history. Getting her name with Parker would sure be a great thing for a youngster like Boston, given the two enjoy a great off-court bond.
Aliyah Boston focused on the last game before the All-Star break
During the aforementioned media session at the Fever’s practice, Aliyah Boston also talked about the team’s preparations for its last game before the All-Star break. They have won back-to-back games, and Caitlin Clark has looked better.
When asked about keeping the momentum going, Boston said:
“We’re really focused. I think Connecticut is playing really well… First is making sure that we are paying attention to the details, make sure we’re ready defensively and also, we push our pace.”
Boston leads the team with 8.6 rpg, averaging 17.1 points, along with 1.2 spg and 1.2 bpg. She is the perfect partner for Caitlin Clark in pick-and-rolls and one of the team’s core pieces.
