Aliyah Boston made some changes last summer. The Indiana Fever center wanted to become a more complete offensive player, so she focused on improving her 3-point shooting. Now, the results are beginning to show, as Boston is flashing her full offensive potential this season.
Boston, who won WNBA Rookie of the Year in 2023, shot 40.0% from three during her rookie campaign. However, her accuracy dipped over the next two seasons, falling to 26.9% in her second year and 20.7% in her third.
“I think that was definitely something that I talked to the coach about at the end of last year, being able to shoot the three ball a lot more and at a higher rate,” Boston told reporters on Tuesday. “And so for me to see them go in this year, I’m super excited. I think that was something that I really drilled this offseason, so I’m super excited.”
That offseason work has certainly paid off. Boston currently leads the league in 3-point percentage at 46.9% in 26 games this season.
She is also averaging a career-high 17.1 points per game, along with 8.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.2 blocks, while shooting an efficient 51.8% from the field. Overall, Boston has given the Fever an outstanding blend of offensive production, efficiency, and toughness on both ends of the floor.
Fever fans have plenty of reason to be excited about Boston’s continued development, as the former No. 1 overall pick is still only getting better.
Aliyah Boston Shares True Feelings on Potential WNBA All-Star 3-Point Contest Appearance
With Aliyah Boston shooting a blistering 46.9% from 3-point range this season (on 2.8 attempts per game), there’s a legitimate question about whether she’ll be invited to participate in the 2026 WNBA All-Star 3-Point Contest in Chicago.
During a media availability on Tuesday, a reporter asked Boston whether she had any interest in competing in the event. While she didn’t completely shut the door on the idea, she admitted she’s probably not planning to take part.
“I’m probably not gonna do it,” Boston said. “But, I mean, people have asked me. They’re like, ‘I don’t really know.’ I know. Rookie year, I was serious about that. I was like, ‘Please let me in.’ Now here I am. Yeah, I don’t know.”
Given the way Boston has been shooting from beyond the arc this season, however, there’s certainly a case to be made that she deserves a spot if she changes her mind.
