Angel Reese became the official cover athlete of the WNBA edition of NBA 2K26 on September 5, 2025. The cover has her in the infamous “You Can’t See Me” pose that she pulled out against Caitlin Clark when LSU defeated Iowa in the 2023 NCAA championship. Reese’s gesture against Clark was inspired by WWE legend John Cena’s iconic celebration.
During an Indiana Fever and Phoenix Mercury game, Sophie Cunningham and DeWanna Bonner got into an altercation that ended with Cunningham pointing at her silently but tauntingly. This quickly went viral, and the gesture became an opportunity for monetization. The WNBPA has now prohibited their official business partners from using and monetizing the viral moment. Keeping that in mind, WNBA podcaster Mick Curley posted about “selective outrage.”
“The WNBPA have no issue with a partner (2k) having Angel Reese doing the ‘You can’t see me’ gesture on the home screen of the game. Is that not a controversial moment between players… Selective outrage as usual…,” he said.
Mick recalled the 2023 NCAA championship and how that gesture became one of the most talked-about moments in women’s basketball. Since there have always been discussions around the aftermath of any controversial moment, he believed that Reese’s gesture on the cover was also problematic. Some might or might not agree with him.

The majority of the fans did not see eye to eye with what Mick said.
Angel Reese has been in some great form this season. She has helped the Atlanta Dream to a fifth position in the table after 26 games. She is averaging 15.4 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists.
