Fever Fans Devastated After New Aliyah Boston Injury Update While Caitlin Clark Remains on IR vs. Mystics

Aliyah Boston joined Caitlin Clark on the Indiana Fever’s injury report ahead of Monday’s rematch with the Washington Mystics. The Fever have listed Boston as questionable due to a right lower leg injury. The former No. 1 pick has dealt with the issue since March, when she was playing in Unrivaled.

Boston missed the rest of the Unrivaled season and the trip to Puerto Rico with the USA Women’s Basketball National Team. She was inactive in the first two preseason games but returned in the finale against Nigeria, playing 10 minutes. Boston has been on a minutes restriction since the start of the season.

Her latest appearance on the injury report seems to be an aggravation of the ailment, which occurred in the second half. Boston left the game briefly and was questionable to play the rest of the contest. However, she returned after working on a stationary bike and a compression sleeve. Boston played 29 minutes, tallying 13 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.

Meanwhile, Caitlin Clark remains a staple on the injury report as she manages a back injury. She is more likely to play than Aliyah Boston. However, Clark’s lingering concern, coupled with Boston’s new injury update, bothered a few Fever fans.

“End the season now,” one fan said.

“Prayers up for AB,” another fan wrote.

“Me – in jeopardy (liver),” one fan added.

“It has never been more over,” one fan said.

“Might as well lose the remaining season,” another fan wrote.

“I have given up,” one fan added.

Fever could struggle if Aliyah Boston is out with an injury against Mystics

While the Fever’s talent on the court outweighs the Mystics’, Washington has a matchup advantage against Stephanie White’s team. As one of the bigger teams in the WNBA, the Mystics can overwhelm the Fever. That issue will be glaring if Aliyah Boston sits out.

She didn’t have the best of games when the teams last matched up on May 5, finishing with nine points and four rebounds in 21 minutes, but one off night doesn’t offset the problem the Fever could face.

They lost by only two points, but it required a season-high 32-point effort from Caitlin Clark and a 24-point night from Kelsey Mitchell. The Fever will turn to Monique Billings and Myisha Hines-Allen to shoulder the extra burden in Boston’s absence.

They will have a tall task at hand guarding Kiki Iriafen and Shaikra Austin. Iriafen went off for 25 points and 13 rebounds in the last meeting, while Austin had 19 points, nine rebounds and five assists. They shot a combined 21-for-31 from the field.

There’s still a 50% chance that Aliyah Boston plays and the Fever will hope that’s the case. They are back to .500 on the season after losing 83-75 to the New York Liberty on Saturday, falling to 1-3 over their last four outings.
