Lane Kiffin leaving Ole Miss was among the biggest stories in the 2025 college football season, and the conversations around it are still making waves on the internet.
Kiffin decided to take an exit from the role of being the Rebels’ head coach just before the 2025 college football playoffs and was subjected to massive public scrutiny for his decision.
Months after Kiffin left Oxford, the new LSU head coach told On3’s Wilson Alexander that the narrative of staying at one place forever and getting your statue built doesn’t happen and highlighted that even some of the greats get pushed out of the program eventually.
Kiffin further said it was an amazing 6-year relationship that was bound to end at some point.

Dan Patrick Expresses Disappointment in Lane Kiffin’s Actions Months After Ole Miss Exit
Lane Kiffin’s recent comments about recruits at Ole Miss telling him they want to come play for the Rebels but not getting allowed by their grandparents raised many eyebrows.
Talking about how Kiffin handled the whole leaving Ole Miss situation, analyst Dan Patrick shared that he really wished the LSU head coach had taken the high road.
Patrick said while he understands why Kiffin made the move to LSU, he should also understand that he left the Rebels hanging.
“I’m disappointed; it’s not fair.” Patrick said.
Kiffin signed a 6-year contract with LSU worth around $90,000,000.
