Troy Taylor’s Salary and Contract in 2024

Taylor was named head coach of Stanford in December 2022, but his contract details remain undisclosed. However, his annual salary in 2024 is likely to be a considerable increase from the $240,000 he earned as head coach of Sacramento State in 2022.

As a private school, Stanford is not required to release and contract information.

Yet, we know that former Cardinal head coach Shaw earned $9 million in 2022, so a massive jump in salary can be expected for Taylor compared to his time as a head coach of the Hornets.

Being named head coach at Stanford is a giant career leap for Taylor, who had a 30-8 overall record in his three seasons as Sacramento State’s head coach. He took over Stanford in a difficult position and will now lead the Cardinal into a new era as they move to the ACC in 2024.

However, the leadership at Stanford is confident in their head coach’s abilities. Director of Athletics Bernard Muir was quick to praise Taylor after announcing his hiring, saying in a statement, “Troy is a proven winner who has experienced success at many levels of football.”

“Throughout our visits together, he demonstrated an understanding of what makes Stanford special and a deep desire to capitalize on our unique strengths,” Muir continued.

“He possesses an incredible football mind and has a long history of caring deeply for the student-athletes he leads. I am excited for the next chapter of Cardinal football and eager for our student-athletes to experience Troy’s passion, wisdom, and leadership.”

Taylor also praised the team and the program in his opening statement as Stanford’s head coach in 2022. “I am thrilled to be the new head football coach at Stanford University. The opportunity to lead the finest student-athletes in the country is truly a dream come true,” he shared.

“I believe that Stanford Football is perfectly positioned to become champions on the football field while maintaining our world-class reputation for academic excellence.”

Taylor’s Net Worth

Taylor’s net worth is unreported, and little is known about the Stanford head coach’s career earnings.

The only known salary during Taylor’s lengthy coaching career is as offensive coordinator at Utah, when he earned $500,000 in 2017 and $525,000 in 2018, according to the USA Today Salary Tracker.

Taylor’s coaching career began in 1994 when he joined Casa Roble High School as offensive coordinator. Beforehand, he had been a quarterback at Cal, where his play earned him a selection in the 1990 NFL Draft. However, after three seasons in the league, Taylor turned to coaching.

After a stop as a positional coach with his alma mater between 1997 and 2000, Taylor coached high school football until 2016, when he joined Eastern Washington.

From there, Taylor’s career has taken off, and he leads one of the most prestigious schools in the country into the 2024 college football campaign, looking to improve on a 3-9 debut season.
