Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning underwent a minor foot surgery this week. It was a preventive measure and is not going to set back the quarterback, but the surgery will limit his participation in the offseason activities.
On Friday, Manning posted an update on his post-surgery timeline. He can be seen throwing a football and doing some cardio at the stadium. He captioned the post:
“Back at it soon.”
The Texas Longhorns didn’t mention any occurrence where Manning might have suffered the foot injury. In 13 games last season, Manning threw for 3,163 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and 10 rushing scores. He led Texas to a 10-3 season with a Citrus Bowl victory but failed to qualify for the College Football Playoff.
“I’m sure there were moments when it was a lot, maybe even overwhelming (for him),” Sarkisian said about Manning’s 2025 season. “But to his credit, I think, ‘Man, the guy showed so much resolve and resiliency,’… You know, to the task at hand… (While) he’s not a finished product. I’m very proud of him for the way he’s handled so much of what we went through.”
Manning is expected to return for another year and is not going to declare for the 2026 NFL draft.
Where Does Arch Manning Rank Among 2026 College Football QBs?
Arch Manning entered the 2025 season with massive expectations. He was a preseason Heisman favorite and was expected to lead the Longhorns to a national championship. However, neither happened.
Despite that, as the season progressed, Manning showed immense maturity, and that is why On3’s Clark Brooks ranked the Longhorns quarterback No. 4 behind Oregon’s Dante Moore, LSU’s Sam Leavitt and Ohio State’s Julian Sayin. Among the overall players list, he ranked Manning No. 15.
Manning is considered to be a first-round pick in the 2027 NFL draft. If he does exceedingly well, some experts have him as the first quarterback to be taken off the draft board. It remains to be seen if Manning can follow the legacy drawn by his Super Bowl winning uncles and take the family legacy forward.
