After crashing out in the very first round of the 2025 CFB playoffs against the Miami Hurricanes last year, the Texas A&M Aggies have been among the top SEC teams to land some heavyweight prospects this recruiting window.
With versatile five-star ATH Brandon Arrington set to feature in the upcoming 2026 CFB season along with a plethora of fellow four-star recruits, head coach Mike Elko isn’t done adding new names to his future roster.
Standing at 6’4″ and 226 pounds, four-star EDGE Frederick Ards III has officially announced his commitment to the Texas-based programs, On3 Sports’ Hayes Fawcett reports.
What makes this recruiting win even more special for Mike Elko and his program is the fact that the outside linebacker was also heavily linked to SEC rival Alabama Crimson Tide, having visited them last week.
While the class of 2027 recruit would still have to wait until next year to feature on the field for the Aggies, the Orlando native couldn’t contain his excitement as he reacted to the news of his commitment on X, writing:
“I’m 🏡”, Frederick posted on X.
Despite being a Florida native and having received offers from some of the top home-state programs like the Gators and the Hurricanes, the fact that Frederick can still call A&M his home speaks volumes of their culture.
Frederick’s recently concluded junior season for Jones High School saw him accumulate a total of 80 tackles, which also included 13 tackles for loss, while also garnering 11 sacks and a solitary forced fumble.
The four-star EDGE currently sits pretty in ESPN SC Next’s top 300 prospects leaderboard, occupying the 64th spot with an overall scout grade of 84.
Texas A&M Recruiting: Class Of 2027 Sees Record Number Of Five-Star Prospects
Fredericks Ards’ addition to the Aggies class of 2027 prospects further strengthens an already stacked roster, which currently comprises a total of four five-star recruits.
Five-star prospects OT Kennedy Brown, OT Mark Matthews, DE Zyron Forstall, and S Kamarui Dorsey currently headline Mike Elko’s recruiting class of 2027, making A&M the safe haven for future superstars.
While it remains to be seen how these high-ceiling players perform on the field come 2027, a lot of rival programs would be wary of Texas’ arsenal.
