The LSU Tigers were missing their quarterback, Sam Leavitt, at the SEC Media Days on Thursday.
People expressed concern about why Leavitt didn’t attend the event to represent the team, LSU head coach Lane Kiffin shared that the former Arizona State star has been really great at the player-led workouts and said the team needed him there more.
Whit Weeks, who plays linebacker for the Tigers, spoke about Leavitt’s addition to the team during a conversation with the Baton Rouge show host Matt Moscona on 104.5 ESPN.
“I cannot wait to see that guy playing in the fall,” Weeks said. “He’s special. Like I’ve seen, I’ve had my career here. I play with a lot of good quarterbacks, (2023 Heisman Trophy winner) Jayden (Daniels) and Nuss (Garrett Nussmeier). Sam’s up there with all of them, like right up there with them.”
“That dude can sling the rock, TJ (Dottery) and I were talking and it’s like, ‘Dude, like, how did he just throw the ball in that window? Like, how did he just get that past us?’ Like, it’s just, it is, it’s unbelievable to see.
“I cannot wait to see what he does in the fall because all it’s been is just a pass game. Like, you haven’t even seen him run yet, so once you see a full Sam Leavitt, like a game, I can’t wait to see that.”
Whit Weeks Opens Up About Relationship with GF’s Dad and LSU HC Lane Kiffin
Lane Kiffin’s daughter, Landry Kiffin, hard-launched her boyfriend, Whit Weeks, during the 2025 college football season.
Kiffin was Ole Miss’s coach at the time of the hard launch; however, a few weeks after that, Lane decided to join LSU as their new coach.
During the SEC Media Days on Thursday, Weeks spoke about his relationship with Kiffin, noting that the LSU coach is now also his girlfriend’s dad.
“It hasn’t affected my relationship with him at all,” Weeks said. “I know that when we go into that building, everyone in our building has the same mindset and the same goals. When you’re in that building, you’re there for work. We like to have a lot of fun up there, too, but at the end of the day, it is work.”
Whenever we leave, it’s cool because he’s my girlfriend’s dad,” he added. “It is what it is when we’re outside the building, hanging out and cutting up. It’s cool, but it doesn’t affect anything in the football building.”
Landry has been sharing snippets from this year’s offseason on Instagram with Whit Weeks. Most recently, the LSU LB was seen in her Fourth of July photo dump.
