What’s Next For Coco Gauff? Grass Season Schedule & Points To Defend Until Wimbledon After Top-5 Crashout

Coco Gauff now finds herself in a not-so-good spot in the latest WTA rankings, as the two-time Grand Slam winner currently sits outside the Top-5 at the World No. 7 spot. Following her early Roland Garros exit, Gauff currently sits at 4,879 points, but the upcoming grass-court season has brought a silver lining for Gauff, as it hands her a golden opportunity to rise up the ranks again.

Coco Gauff has had a rollercoaster ride in 2026, and after failing to defend her Roland Garros title this year, the American is now at an important crossroads in the year. The good news for Gauff is that, in the grand scheme of tennis, she just needs a moderate number of wins in the upcoming tournaments, as she defends a measly 11 points for the entire swing.

Her grass season kicks off with the WTA Berlin Tennis Open, which will take place from June 15 to June 21, 2026. She is currently not in the entry list the following week, and will end her grass swing at Wimbledon. In 2025, Gauff faced a second-round exit in Berlin, and exited Wimbledon in the very first round.

While Gauff heads in with minimal pressure, her rivals, Iga Świątek and Amanda Anisimova, despite being in the top 5, need to defend a huge number of points to maintain their rankings. Świątek, the World No. 3, would need to defend 2,325 points on grass, while Wimbledon runner-up Anisimova needs to defend 1,733 points.

Wimbledon is Coco Gauff’s Worst-Performing Grand Slam In Career So Far

When it comes to Grand Slams, Wimbledon remains the one Coco Gauff has the worst performances in. The American has never reached the quarterfinals at the tournament in six attempts. Her best run so far is reaching the fourth round.

By contrast, Gauff has won the title once each at the French Open and the US Open, while she has reached the semifinals once at the Australian Open. Interestingly, Wimbledon is the Slam where the World No. 7 made her main draw debut, at the age of just 15.
