Coco Gauff opened up about her loss at the French Open 2026

After losing to Anastasia Potapova in the third round at Roland Garros, Coco Gauff addressed the media in the post-match press conference. She weighed in on her loss, stating that she had tough luck during the match and highlighting the things that she thought did not work in her way.

Talking about her form, she said that she lost this match in a similar way as she lost in Rome, which she emphasized wasn’t a good sign.

I don’t know. I had chances, so I think just trying to capitalize more on these good points that I’m hitting and not quite finishing. So, yeah, I think that was the difference that she was able to finish the points and I wasn’t. Sorry, I got tough luck today,” said Coco Gauff.

    She added:

“I think just I lost I feel like I lost the same way in Rome as I did here, which is um not good. I think um I don’t know, you never want to lose the same way back to back times. Um and I did and I feel like also in Madrid it was a similar thing losing the same way. So it’s one thing to lose but I I think today I didn’t I mean I competed like I fought my hardest but I don’t think I played the way I wanted to um in the crucial moments.”

Just ahead of the French Open, Coco Gauff reached the finals of the Italian Open, where she lost to Elina Svitilina, who lifted the trophy after a 6-4, 6-7(7), 6-2 victory.
