What Happened Between Katerina Siniakova & Camila Osorio At Miami Open Today? Handshake Drama Fully Explained

The 2026 Miami Open featured some post-match drama between Katerina Siniakova and Camila Osorio after their first-round match.

After Osorio won the match 6-1, 6-4, Siniakova, who had fallen down on match point, lay on the court for a while as the Colombian made her way to the other side for a handshake. Siniakova then got up, held out her hand without making any eye contact, and made her way to her chair after shaking hands with the umpire.

Meanwhile, Osorio hung around for a while, looking surprised, apparently hoping Siniakova would talk to her. However, Siniakova just picked up her belongings and stormed out of the court in front of her opponent. According to the New York Times, Siniakova was not frustrated with her opponent but simply embarrassed by how the match ended. The pro-Osorio crowd may have also played a role in Siniakova’s reaction.

This was only their second encounter against each other, with Osorio drawing level in their head-to-head. They last met two years ago in Spain, where Katerina Siniakova defeated Osorio in straight sets.

Camila Osorio’s Next Miami Open Opponent

After making it through the first round, Camila Osorio will face a tough challenge in No. 13 Karolina Muchova. The Round of 64 matchup takes place on Tuesday. As a top-32 seed, Muchova received a first-round bye.

Interestingly, they haven’t faced each other yet. Osorio is energetic and aggressive, while Muchova is experienced and versatile, making for an intriguing clash of styles.

Osorio, in her first-round win, managed two aces against six double faults. She made 60% of her first serves and won 69% of those points. More importantly, she converted 5 of 8 break point opportunities and was broken just twice.
