Iga Swiatek’s fans have expressed concern for her well-being. After some of her recent photos from a practice session in Miami surfaced on the internet, fans urged the former World No. 1 to take a break and distance herself from her psychologist, Daria Abramowicz.
A common perception among fans has been that Daria’s behavior towards Swiatek is unhealthy. The psychologist, who has been with the Pole since 2020, has often been seen with aggressive gestures towards the six-time Grand Slam champion during matches.
Swiatek’s recent photos from a practice session in Miami suggested that she was not enjoying herself at all. The 24-year-old seemed exhausted and engaged in an animated discussion with her team, including coach Wim Fissette and physiotherapist and fitness coach Maciej Ryszczuk.
Although Daria was nowhere to be seen in these photos, fans online urged Swiatek to go on a vacation without her.
“Iga needs a long vacation — without Daria. Wim is in an impossible situation. Daria helped select him, knowing her dominance would be preserved. How can he, the actual coach, have sufficient influence when the puppet master is always present?” a fan wrote.
“my god can we skip miami? 😭,” another commented.
“yeah it’s over before it even started 🙃,” someone wrote.
“She’s so washed. Good days long gone, Wim has no authority 😔,” another user tweeted.
“what I absolutely hate about her partnership with wim that since it started she looks absolutely washed, no competitiveness, body language is totally off, she screams and yells to box like … shes totally not in right mindset 😭,” a fan wrote.
“I’m surprised she has not split with this coach,” another one chimed in.
Tennis Coach Says Iga Swiatek Might Fall Out of Top 5
Dmitry Tursunov, who has worked with Aryna Sabalenka, Emma Raducanu, Belinda Bencic, and more, has suggested that Iga Swiatek might fall out of the WTA top five soon.
Swiatek won three titles last year, including Wimbledon and the Cincinnati Open. However, she has been struggling this year, with three quarterfinal exits in as many tournaments (Australian Open, Qatar Open, and Indian Wells).
The Pole recently dropped from No. 2 to No. 3 in the WTA rankings, prompting Tursunov to write on Telegram:
“It’s unlikely she’ll be able to get out of this slump. We’re not even talking about returning to the top of the WTA Rankings. We’re talking about staying in the top five.”
“How many more warning signals does Iga – who is currently 10th in the ranking [WTA Race To Riyadh] need? I don’t ever remember her being under such pressure in her career or during her clay court competitions,” he added.
Swiatek is set to open her Miami Open campaign against her compatriot Magda Linette in the Round of 64 on Wednesday.
