Coco Gauff’s Mom Candi Shares Sweet Mesage Moments After Heartbreaking Wimbledon SF Loss

Coco Gauff’s mother, Candi Gauff, gave a shoutout to her daughter despite her heartbreaking upset at Wimbledon on Thursday.

Coco’s Wimbledon run came to an end in the semifinal after a 2-6, 6-1, 6-7(12) loss to Karolina Muchova on Centre Court. The tournament marked the 22-year-old’s first semifinal appearance at the All England Club. Immediately after the match, her mother, who had been supporting her from the stands, congratulated her for her run on social media.

Taking to her Instagram story, Candi posted a picture of Gauff from the tournament and penned a two-emoji message that read:

While Coco Gauff’s mother has been a huge presence, supporting her daughter through the triumphs and heartbreaks, her father, Corey, skipped Wimbledon this year to help her younger brother, Codey, who plays baseball for the Missouri Tigers, move into his college dorm.

Gauff began her 2026 Wimbledon journey on June 29, with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Tamara Korpatsch. She then went on to defeat Solana Sierra, Claire Liu, Belinda Bencic, and Jessica Pegula to advance to the semifinals.

What did Coco Gauff say about reaching her first semifinal at Wimbledon?

After sealing a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon Championships, Coco Gauff made her feelings known about advancing to her first semifinal of the tournament during her post-match press conference. Calling it a ‘special’ win, she exuded pride in herself for finding a breakthrough on the grass court.

“I think it feels really special considering the results I’ve had of late and just especially on the surface. So, it definitely is special and I think I’m able to relax a bit because I don’t know. I just feel like regardless of, how this turn the rest of this tournament goes, I really think I found like a bit of a breakthrough on grass. So, regardless of how it goes, I think I’m just proud of myself. Obviously, I’m not satisfied. I think, I want to go all the way, but also at the same time, I’m just looking at, you know, the match in front of me and just trying to keep doing better with each point,” said Coco Gauff.
Immediately after the match, the American looked toward her player box and said, “Oh my god, how?” Explaining her reaction, she added:
“I don’t know. I’m like I’m pretty confident, but I don’t know. I’m just like you told me like I would be in the semis of this tournament. Just like what? You’re funny. I’m confident in myself and the player that I am but I’m also like looking at things I’m also like I know tennis so it’s like if I wasn’t myself I would pick maybe her to win like with that game style she has on the surface. But then because I am me, I pick myself. So, I think it was just more so that reaction came from like a third person point of view necessarily than me in the moment.”

Just before competing at Wimbledon, Coco Gauff played at the Berlin Open, where she suffered an early loss to Paula Badosa in the opening round.
