USWNT forward Trinity Rodman was in high spirits after their narrow victory over Brazil in a friendly at Arena Castelão on Tuesday.
The United States ran out 1-0 winners in a chaotic night that saw multiple cards being handed out to the Brazilian players and coaching staff. A whopping eight red cards were brandished, with Beatriz Zaneratto Joao and Tarciane among those who were sent off.
Team USA had 13 shots, but needed an own goal in the 63rd minute to break the deadlock. Rodman came on for Emily Fox after halftime and added a spark for the United States.
After the game, she took to social media to highlight the wild night.
“23 cards last night, guess who didn’t get one 🤫😜 be proud yall,” she joked.

While Rodman is in Brazil for the U.S. camp, her boyfriend Ben Shelton is in Germany preparing for the start of his grasscourt season in Stuttgart. The American will face compatriot Marcos Giron in his opener after receiving a first-round bye. Shelton leads their head-to-head 2-1, including a tight three-set win in Hamburg last month.
Trinity Rodman Talks About Finding Happiness with Ben Shelton
During an interview with ABC7 earlier this year, Trinity Rodman revealed how she and Ben Shelton have gotten to understand each other through shared experiences as athletes competing at the highest level. She highlighted how important the mental aspect of dealing with setbacks is and how understanding each other on that level has helped both remain grounded:
“I think it’s about understanding each other and just the mental aspect of it. You can power through little nicks and injuries, but if your mind is not right, it’s harder to push through that, so I think we did a really good job at keeping each other very happy.”
She ended by reflecting on the value of having someone who could truly understand the highs and lows of professional sports and be there when it’s required the most.
