    “Crazy” – Ben Shelton Stunned As Ja’Kobe Tharp Breaks 110m Hurdles World Record At NCAA Championships

    Ben Shelton recently dropped a shocked reaction after the American hurdler Ja’Kobe Tharp broke the men’s 110m hurdles world record with an impressive time of 12.75 seconds. The tennis player made his feelings known about the track athlete’s achievement with a sweet comment on social media.

    This major feat by Tharp was claimed on Wednesday, June 10, at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which took place at the Hayward Field in Eugene. Here, he ran in the semifinal heats of the 110m hurdles, where he broke the men’s world record with an astonishing time of 12.75 seconds. The Auburn University junior shattered the 14-year-old world record of 12.80s, which was set by Aries Merritt in September 2012.

    In addition to this, he also smashed the previous NCAA record of 12.98 seconds set by Grant Holloway in 2019. This staunch victory caught the attention of the entire sports world, including tennis, as the American player Ben Shelton was stunned by his performance. He lauded the 20-year-old hurdler by sharing a video of his race on the Instagram story and calling his achievement ‘crazy.’

    Shelton was last seen in action at the Stuttgart Open, where he opened in the round of 16 against Marcos Giron. This match was halted during the second set with a score tied and Shelton trailing overall with a 7-6, 4-4 score. It was suspended and postponed due to wet grass as continuous rainfall made the grass too risky for the players to play on.

    Ben Shelton made his feelings known about competing at the French Open

    Ben Shelton opened his 2026 Roland Garros campaign on Monday, May 25, where he first contested against Daniel Merida Aguilar. Delivering a dominant performance, he registered a 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 win, advancing to the second round of the tournament. Following this victory, the American addressed the media in the post-match press conference, where he weighed in on his first day at the French Open.

    “I mean, I thought the conditions were pretty normal, you know, in my match. Um, it’s nice to to play in warm weather. I think that I’m very good in warm weather,” said Ben Shelton.

    Along with this, he also made his feelings known about his second-round partner Raphael Collignon. When asked if he knew anything about the Belgian player, he said:

    “Yeah, I think he’s a he’s a great player. You know, I feel like he made a big breakthrough kind of last year, the year before. I honestly haven’t watched him play a bunch. Um but I’ve seen, you know, a lot of the results that he’s had and um he’s beat some great players over the last year, year and a half. Um obviously a big guy, serves well, and um looking forward to the first match up with him.”

    Ben Shelton eventually lost the second round against Collignon, bringing his French Open run to an early end.
