Novak Djokovic Gives Rare Reaction To $5,900,000 Compatriot Nikola Kalinic’s Stunning Basketball Milestone

24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic is an active social media personality but rarely reacts to other sports besides tennis. Djokovic, a staunch patriot, has always supported sports stars from his country, and the Serb did the same on Thursday, celebrating the career milestone of countryman Nikola Kalinic in basketball.

Kalinic reached the 3000-point mark in the Euroleague after scoring five points against Hapoel Tel Aviv in their regular season game on February 4. This is the 34-year-old’s third stint with the KK Crvena Zvezda in the Euroleague, which was agreed at a whopping $5.9 million in salary. Djokovic was quick to share the historic bucket by Kalinic on his Instagram story and wrote,

    “Kalinaaa. 🙌 💪”

Like the 34-year-old Kalinic, Djokovic has also become a veteran in professional tennis, showing no signs of slowing down as he fought hard to claim his 11th title in Melbourne but ultimately fell short to the brilliance of Carlos Alcaraz.

While many had written off the 38-year-old in the semifinal itself, Djokovic proved his might by knocking out the defending champion, Jannik Sinner, in five grueling sets. The Serb is now preparing to participate in his maiden ATP event of the year.

Novak Djokovic Will Aim to Redeem Himself in Doha

Despite losing the Australian Open final, it was an encouraging run for the Serb, who broke multiple records in Melbourne. Despite not playing a single tour event during the Australian swing, Djokovic proved why he has been the best in the business for several years now.

The Serb has broken into the top-3 rankings yet again as he prepares to play his maiden tournament on the ATP circuit when he travels to Qatar to play at the Doha Open (ATP 500) starting on February 16.

This will be the Serb’s sole tournament during the Middle East swing, as he will skip the Dubai Open to shift focus toward the Masters 1000 event in Indian Wells, starting on March 2.
