Novak Djokovic’s Touching Message To Lindsey Vonn As American Fights Through Brutal Winter Olympics Injury

24-time Grand Slam title champion Novak Djokovic sent a rare message to legendary American skier Lindsey Vonn. The 38-year-old Serb understands what it takes to be a champion and to compete at the highest level of a sport. Vonn, who aimed to compete in the Winter Games despite an ACL tear, was already an inspiration to many for her grit and determination.

After crashing out and suffering a complex tibial fracture in her left leg during run 1, Vonn’s dream at the Milano-Cortina Winter Games came to a heartbreaking end. Vonn has already undergone 3-4 operations, and doctors have yet to decide on the best course of action for the star skier.

On Monday, Djokovic shared an Instagram reel by Vonn, in which the skier is seen on a hospital bed, surrounded by her loved ones and the medical staff. “Inspiration! You are a HERO 🦸‍♀️🙌💪❤️” Djokovic wrote in the Intagram story.

Like Vonn, Djokovic has been a dominant figure in his sporting field. Against all odds, the Serb reached the Australian Open final in his quest for a historic 25th major title and a record 11th in Melbourne. While the proceedings in the summit clash didn’t go his way as Carlos Alcaraz defeated him in four sets, the Serb will look to bounce back in the next ATP event.

Novak Djokovic Skips the Middle-East Swing to Prepare for Indian Wells

Djokovic has skipped both ATP 500 events in Qatar and Dubai to focus entirely on the maiden Masters 1000 event at Indian Wells, which starts on March 2. While the other top names will be featuring in the Middle-East swing, Djokovic is enjoying a break since a glorious run in Melbourne.

Most recently, Djokovic was spotted in Milan witnessing Ilia Malinin’s free skating routine at the Winter Games. The Serb has finally broken into the top-3 after receiving massive ATP points for making the Australian Open final. The Serb didn’t play in any of the warm-up events in the Australian swing, which will make Indian Wells his maiden ATP event of the season.
