Novak Djokovic has returned to a Grand Slam final for the first time since the 2023 US Open championship. Djokovic defeated World No. 2 Jannik Sinner in the semifinals of the 2026 Australian Open to get one step closer to winning his historic 25th Grand Slam title.
Djokovic will be facing World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz in the finals at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne Park. The Spaniard overcame Germany’s Alexander Zverev in the five-set semifinal thriller.
The return of the 24-time Grand Slam champion to the finals of a major title has generated quite the buzz among the fans. Ticket prices are soaring at an all-time high. According to X user Dani Bunny, the cheapest ticket prices for this year’s Australian Open final are near $2,000. The upper level seats, like the one in Section 44 of Row DD, costs $1,899 per adult. The user also mentioned that he attended the 2025 Australian Open final that happened between Zverev and Sinner, and these same tickets were only costing $700 to $800.
The excitement among fans is understandable as Djokovic has been waiting for this moment for the last two years. In 2025, he reached the semifinal of every Grand Slam but conceded losses to the dominance of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. However, this year, he has overcome the Sinner and now looks forward to beating Alcaraz, who is fresh off playing the longest match in the Australian Open history.

Djokovic said last year that he doesn’t stand a chance against Alcaraz and Sinner in the best of five match. However, he proved himself wrong with sheer grit and determination. The 38-year old will now go toe-to-toe with the best out there as the 22-year-old Carlos Alcaraz will also be filled with motivation to win his first Australian Open and become the youngest tennis star to complete a career Slam.
