Alycia Parks defeated homegirl Noma Noha Akugue in the opening round of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany, and advanced to the round of 16. Parks needed just two sets to claim victory on Wednesday, asserting dominance from the outset and playing her brand of tennis.
After the match, Parks met with a tennis presenter for the on-court interview, during which she was asked whether she wanted to hold the tournament’s record for the fastest serve. The American replied that she had her eyes on the Porsche, which she said goes pretty fast.
The interview continued as the presenter discussed the speed limit and various aspects of the car with Parks, prompting a wide range of reactions from tennis fans about the mannerisms on display from both parties.
Some fans described the on-court exchange between the presenter and Parks as a bit flirtatious and shared their thoughts on X.
“No idea who he is, but was he flirting with Alycia?” one fan commented.
“This is the most flirtatious on-court interview. He wants him some her, and all she wants is that Porsche,” another fan commented.
“Who hires these people?” yet another fan commented.
Some other fans applauded Parks’ demeanor and responses during the interview, with one fan pointing out that, despite the American claiming to always drive under the speed limit, her serve speed is fierce, averaging over 125 mph.
“Haha, Alycia keeping it real, Porsche over prestige any day! ‘I go the speed limit… 70 mph’ is peak comedy while her serve hits 129+,” one fan commented.
“Parks.. Doing well so far,” another fan commented.
“Sweet girl,” yet another fan commented.
Alycia Parks Will Face Mirra Andreeva in the Round of 16 at Stuttgart
Parks will face a stern test against the reigning Linz Open champion in the round of 16 at Stuttgart on Thursday. Andreeva defeated defending champion Jelena Ostapenko in three sets to advance to the round of 16 and is aiming to make a deep run for the second tournament in a row.
Parks suffered a hammering in the duo’s only meeting at the US Open last year. Still, the American will be eyeing to carry the positive momentum from her opening-round win into today’s match and stage a major upset at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.
