Carlos Alcaraz Brutally Questioned For Buying $9,000,000 Yacht By Jannik Sinner’s Compatriot

Carlos Alcaraz continues to grab headlines for his off-court lifestyle, with some thinking it’s affecting his performance on the court. After becoming the youngest person in Open Era history to complete a career Grand Slam, the Spaniard treated himself to an extravagant purchase.

Alcaraz ordered a luxury yacht worth around €9 million. It’s a custom-built 27-metre Sunreef Ultima 88 catamaran, as he joined several tennis greats like Rafael Nadal to have such a piece of luxury. He also became a brand ambassador for Sunreef Yachts.

Italian great and former Grand Slam winner Adriano Panatta raised question against this luxury purchase. Panatta asks Alcaraz to think about how to get better while speaking on Italian channel Rai 2.

“Is it really useful, at 22, to buy a $9million yacht? At that age, a young tennis player that strong should only be thinking about one thing… how to get stronger,” Panatta said.

The latest discourse comes after Alcaraz conceded his No. 1 ranking to Jannik Sinner after losing to the Italian in the Monte-Carlo finals. While Panatta acknowledged that Alcaraz has superior technical ability, if the Spaniard continues with such an attitude, it won’t be long before he notices a drop in his performance.

“Sinner won thanks to his determination, mental strength, and daily work to improve. This boy perhaps has a little less technical ability than Alcaraz, but he is so strong mentally that he can bring this quality to every match,” Panatta added. “For this reason, the Spaniard must always play at 100%, or he will only have to drop by 5% and not be able to prevail.”

Carlos Alcaraz Reveals Reason Behind Luxurious Yacht Purchase

After receiving a lot of flak from the media and fans for becoming the owner of a luxurious yacht, Carlos Alcaraz defended the investment in favor of better recovery and spending quality time with his loved ones.

“I decided to order the Ultima 88 with Sunreef because I feel they are not only experts in luxury catamarans but true trendsetters,” said Alcaraz. “Building with them gives me confidence that this will be the perfect yacht to unwind and recharge. I feel that Sunreef and I share the same dynamic spirit — we are a great match.”

With seven Grand Slams and multiple ATP titles to his name, Alcaraz is at the peak of his career. Though Alcaraz might have dropped to No. 2, with Sinner not playing in Barcelona, the Spaniard has the chance to reclaim the No. 1 spot by winning the tournament there.
