Felix Auger-Aliassime Reveals Frightening Details Of Narrowly Escaping US-Israel-Iran War After Dubai Defeat

The Middle East is in the middle of an intense war and some players who were still alive in the Dubai Tennis Championships were left stranded. However, this does not include Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime.

The Canadian suffered a straight-sets defeat at the hands of Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals on Friday. In his latest interview with the local media in California ahead of the Indian Wells tournament, Auger-Aliassime recalled horrifying details of how he managed to sneak out of the United Arab Emirates just in time before the closure of airspace as the war between Israel, US against Iran intensified.

“I was very lucky. It was probably the most fortunate defeat of my career,” Auger-Aliassime said. “We took off normally. And things started going wrong around 9:30 or 10:00. After about two hours of flight, several people had news on their screens, and I could see that the United States had attacked Iran. Upon landing, my family and friends had texted me to ask if I had left. If everything was alright. It was only once I arrived that I realized how lucky I had been to be able to leave. How lucky I was to have left just in time.”

It seems that among all the defeats Auger-Aliassime has suffered in his career, he would be really satisfied with this one.

Felix Auger-Aliassime Announced Brand Ambassador of Polestar

On Tuesday, Felix Auger-Aliassime was announced as the brand ambassador of Polestar, a Swedish electric car company. Just a few months before, Olympic gold medalist Justine Dufour-Lapointe was given a similar role by the brand in Canada.

“I am proud to partner with Polestar at such a thrilling moment for both of us,” he said. “Performance and precision are central to how I approach tennis and I see that same commitment in everything Polestar builds. It is important to me to align with brands that are looking forward and thinking about the future and I am excited to grow together.”

Canada’s Polestar head Hugues Bissonnette said the brand’s philosophy aligns with Auger-Aliassime’s precision, preparation, and intelligent execution, making him a natural ambassador of the brand.

As part of the deal, the Canadian star will drive a Polestar at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California. He will also drive it to several other competitions including all four Grand Slams and the National Bank Open in Montreal.
