“Absolutely Disgraceful, Should Be Disqualified” – Fans Call For ATP Star To Be Banned From Tennis After Shocking Umpire Abuse & Assault

American tennis professional Tristan Boyer had a meltdown during his match against Daniele Rapagnetta in a Challenger qualifier in Francavilla, Italy. It was a tight game at 5-5, when Boyer’s serve was broken.

After the game, Boyer moved towards the umpire’s chair and smashed his racket against it. This triggered a code violation. Instead of a warning, the chair umpire treated it as unsportsmanlike conduct, penalizing Boyer a game and as a result, he also lost the match to Rapagnetta, 6-4, 7-5.

“You’re a f*cking moron,” he said to chair umpire and after being assessed a penalty, added: “You’re gonna give me something that never even happened? That’s unf***ing believable to me. Nothing happened. That’s just f**king bulls**t. F**king bulls**t. Watch the f**king video. Nothing f**king happened. F**k you man.”

This reaction from Boyer didn’t go down well with the fans, who called it unacceptable behavior.

“Absolutely disgraceful conduct,” one fan wrote. “He SHOULD be disqualified. We’ve all seen players smash racquets but this was way beyond just breaking a racket . This guy has serious anger management issues . 🤬”

“Lost the match, and should lose THE PRIVILEGE of being allowed to play in any and ALL tourneys FOR A YEAR, MINIMUM! What an out-of-control B*M!” another wrote.

“look – tennis is a tough sport when you are grinding challenger circuit. Hard to contain emotions, but that’s what gets you to next level,” one fan commented. “He needs a sports psychologist and the ATP has to fine/suspend him. This is not isolated, its a bad pattern that can end really badly.”

“Yes, Boyer seems like a m*ron. Get him out of ATP for at least 6 months,” one fan reacted.

“Well, he needs a 6 month suspension for that, and a quick lecture on how adults act in pro tennis,” one fan wrote.

“Mental case. B*ms like this one don’t belong in tennis. Give him a huge fine. Suspend his a** indefinitely,” one fan remarked.

Tristan Boyer Was Involved in Similar Meltdown Before

The incident on Monday was not an isolated one, but it added to a pattern of previous such meltdowns involving Tristan Boyer.

Last year, after suffering a tight defeat at the Oeiras Challenger against Francisco Comesana, Boyer took the umbrella stick and smashed it multiple times against the ground.

Down by one set, Boyer was up in the second set after he managed to break his opponent twice. Despite that, he couldn’t close the set as it went into a tie break, where Comesana won, thereby Boyer lost the match, 7-5, 7-6 (4) in the Round of 16.

There was another incident earlier in the San Diego Challenger first round in February 2025, where Boyer ranted against the chair umpire for doing a poor job.

“Unbelievable. It’s ridiculous. You guys can’t do one thing right! God, it p—– me off. God, it’s frustrating. All over the place, horrendous calls. Horrendous calls!” Boyer said. “What are you doing giving me a time violation?! There are three people here. There are three people here watching me! Three people! It’s the first round, it’s ridiculous. We are not on TV, there is nobody watching, nobody is watching the stream. You’re ridiculous!”

Boyer will need to control such a meltdown moments better going forward or he could potentially face harsh repercussions in the future.
