Just days before the Italian Open, Naomi Osaka stole the spotlight in New York at the 2026 Met Gala. She walked the red and revealed her dramatic two-stage outfit.
Osaka arrived in a sculptural ivory designed by Robert Wun, featuring architectural coat with red crystals, a sculptural hat and red gloves. Then came the signature Met Gala moment. She removed the outer layer on the carpet to showcase her jaw-dropping outfit. The second look was a body-hugging red crystallized gown, designed to represent human anatomy. It featured thousands of Swarovski crystals, over 659,000 stitches and more than 3,200 hours of craftsmanship.
Fans shared their reactions on the Osaka’s outfit for Met Gala.
“insane outfit reveal??? its a regular ugly dress, like chill tf out man,” one fan wrote.
“You see this why Naomi transcends tennis my sister knows how to cause conversation and make a moment. Many of your favs don’t have that!!” another added.
“Absolutely insane of her taking off a coat. My mind is blown,” one fan reacted.
“Looks like something you’d run into at the swap shop in the 90s,” another commented.
“Looks like a demonic bloody weird vibe ..claw gloves like no thanks,” one fan noted.
“If she spent as much time training to be a better tennis player, we wouldn’t really give two s**ts about her outfit and she should try to be a model. If that’s what she thinks she can be,” one fan added.
Naomi Osaka to Travel Rome After Met Gala For Italian Open
Unlike Venus Williams, Naomi Osaka will be participating in Italian Open despite appearing in Met Gala on Monday. Osaka has received a first round bye in what would be her second clay tournament of the year and her seventh appearance at the Rome Masters.
The four-time Grand Slam champion has been given the No. 15 seed at Foro Italico. She is set to meet the winner between the match of No. 60 Katie Boulter and 80th-ranked Eva Lys. Osaka has played against Boulter thrice, winning all the matches. Meanwhile, she has not played Lys even once.
She could probably meet Diana Shnaider in the third round and Iga Swiatek in the fourth round. If she’s able to get past the defending champion of French Open, she could face either of Karolina Muchova and Jessica Pegula. In the semifinals, Elena Rybakina, Elina Svitolina and Victoria Mboko, could be Osaka’s three probable opponents. If she somehow makes the final, she could face either of Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff and Mirra Andreeva.
It remains to be seen how Osaka manages to perform in Rome.
