Iga Swiatek was notably absent from Tennis Channel’s promotional graphic for the 2026 French Open, something that didn’t sit well with fans. Many took to social media to question why the Pole was left out while players like Elena Rybakina were included.
The French Open is just days away, with the qualifying rounds already underway. Jannik Sinner will headline the men’s draw as the top seed in the absence of defending champion Carlos Alcaraz. On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka leads the field as the top seed, while Coco Gauff enters as the defending champion.
Ahead of the tournament, Tennis Channel shared a promotional graphic on its official X (formerly Twitter) account featuring Sabalenka, Gauff, Rybakina, Sinner, and Novak Djokovic. However, fans were quick to point out Iga Swiatek’s omission, especially considering her dominance at Roland Garros, where she has already won four titles, more than any of the other WTA stars featured in the post.
One user wrote:
“Honestly, how is Rybakina more relevant to Roland Garros than a 4 time champion, Iga Świątek?”
“Where’s Iga Świątek you bums?” another questioned.
“Where is Iga? Besides ranking, how relevant is Rybakina to the French open?” another posted.
“Erasing 4 time champion is kinda insane but whatever,” one fan tweeted.
“Choosing not to have iga but having the italian and rybakina is a choice,” another commented.
“Was there not one photo of Iga from the 4 years she won here,” another joined in.
Iga Swiatek Content With Italian Open Exit Ahead Of Roland Garros
Iga Swiatek may not have had the best start to her 2026 season, but she managed to turn things around impressively at the Italian Open, where her run came to an end in the semifinals against Elina Svitolina. Despite falling short of the final, Swiatek expressed satisfaction with her performances in Rome, viewing it as a positive step forward in regaining her rhythm and confidence.
Swiatek posted on Instagram:
“Yesterday’s match was challenging, and of course, I wished for a different outcome. However, I truly enjoyed playing here and feel like my game is stepping up with all the work we’ve put in lately. Rome is always special to me. Between the tennis, the crowd, and let’s be honest, the food, I’m already looking forward to being back next year. Grazie!”
Iga Swiatek has already arrived in Paris for the upcoming French Open, where she will once again be among the top contenders. She is expected to enter the clay-court Major as the third seed and will look to build on her momentum from Rome.
