Coco Gauff’s Ex-Coach Launches Scathing Attack On LeBron James For ‘Flopping’ Amid Cleveland Cavaliers Trade Buzz

Coco Gauff’s former coach Brad Gilbert has taken aim at NBA superstar LeBron James, accusing him of increasingly apparent deceptive play and rampant flopping during games. The timing of Gilbert’s comments comes against a backdrop of swirling rumors linking James once again with the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he began his Hall-of-Fame career.

Gilbert didn’t hold back in his blunt assessment of James’ recent on-court behavior. A video of him circulating online was shared by one of the users on X, where he was seen calling a foul in the middle of the game, which, according to multiple opinions online, wasn’t the right one.

Reacting to the clip, Gauff’s former coach asserted that the four-time NBA champion now engages in what he described as obvious attempts to draw fouls or, in NBA parlance, ‘flopping.’ He wrote on X:

“Does like 5-10 times a game minimum now flopping all over the place.”

Gilbert’s comments surface amid rekindled speculation that LeBron, now in his early 40s, could find himself linked to Cleveland again, this time not sentimentally but sportingly. According to recent reports, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been actively reshaping their roster following a blockbuster trade that sent All-Star guard Darius Garland out and brought in veteran James Harden.

Multiple league sources suggest that the team could be open to welcoming James back if he expresses interest in a return in free agency this summer.

Coco Gauff’s Former Coach Brad Gilbert Shared His Views on the American’s Privacy Concern at Australian Open

Coco Gauff’s former coach, Brad Gilbert, came to the defense of the American star following the controversial incident at Australian Open that raised questions about player privacy and emotional space.

Gauff, who exited the tournament in a disappointing loss against Elina Svitolina, was visibly emotional after the match. Cameras later captured the 21-year-old in a backstage corridor as she appeared to vent her frustration away from the public eye. The footage quickly circulated online, sparking debate about whether players deserve more privacy in such vulnerable moments.

In a recent conversation with Front Office Sports News, Gilbert opined on this incident, saying: (1:20 onwards)

“Coco, when she walked off the court, you know, some players, you know, literally their emotion blows over on the court, and you see them break the racket on the court, you know, but she walks off the court in the corridor and goes behind where she thinks it’s kind of like, I don’t know, it’s not a curtain, but it looked like some area, but the casino bug-eye is there.
“I mean, Serena told her she would give her a lesson on what took her so many times to break the racket. I can break it in once, but in my opinion, she didn’t want to be seen. She was showing her emotion. Why does she have to be seen there? I think that was wrong.”

Coco Gauff is currently all set to compete at the Qatar Open, and the opening round is scheduled on Monday.
