Coco Gauff Tired Of Having Taylor Fritz For Hours In Honest United Cup Confession

Coco Gauff has made an honest confession about spending time with Taylor Fritz on a flight, where the American ATP star, sitting right beside the WTA icon, was hilariously caught sleeping on camera. Fritz’s funny expressions during his in-flight nap made it difficult for Gauff to contain her laughter, and the pair later took to social media to reflect on the amusing moment during Team USA’s 2026 United Cup campaign.

The video of the moment was originally recorded by Mackenzie McDonald, one of Gauff and Fritz’s teammates at the United Cup. Shot aboard the flight that the American contingent boarded to reach Sydney from Perth after their quarterfinal victory against Greece, the video was later shared by the official Instagram handle of Tennis Channel.

Both Fritz and Gauff took notice of the video. The ATP star was the first to comment on it. Bemoaning how sleeping in peace has become difficult for him with mischief makers such as McDonald around, the World No. 9 in men’s singles tennis wrote in the comments:

“Can’t even sleep in peace anymore”

Subsequently, Gauff, the World No. 4 in women’s singles tennis, amusingly revealed how Fritz napped for three hours with the same sort of expressions aboard the flight. The two-time singles Major champion added:

    “3 hours of this 😂”

Coco Gauff, Taylor Fritz Falter as Team USA’s United Cup title defense collapses in SF

The in-flight moment was one full of laughs and giggles, but when it came to facing Poland in Sydney in the semifinals of the 2026 United Cup, Gauff, Fritz and the other Americans were all business. Unfortunately though, despite their best efforts, the American contingent couldn’t get past the Poles.

In a rematch of last year’s United Cup final, it was Fritz who suffered the first blow for Team USA, as he fell to a straight-set loss to the resurgent Hubert Hurkacz. Gauff though, produced a stellar straight-set win over WTA No. 2 Iga Swiatek in the next match, taking the tie to a decisive mixed doubles encounter.

Gauff partnered Christian Harrison for the mixed doubles clash, but here, it was the Polish duo of Katarzyna Kawa and Jan Zielinski who came out on top with a 7-6(5), 7-6(3) win. Team Poland will now battle it out with Team Switzerland for the 2026 United Cup crown on Sunday, January 11.

Meanwhile, Gauff and Fritz are now set to turn their attention towards the Australian Open in Melbourne.
