Coco Gauff, Bianca Andreescu, and many other top names from various sporting fields celebrated legendary American alpine skier Mikaela Shiffrin’s first gold medal at the Milano-Cortina Winter Games. Shiffrin won the gold medal in the women’s giant slalom, bringing her overall tally to four medals in four Winter Olympic editions, including three golds and one silver.
Shiffrin took to her Instagram account and shared a positive, morale-boosting message about her triumphant win at the Winter Games.
“I won! I got there, in the face of fear and adrenaline and the potential for criticism and backlash from people who know nothing and don’t even try to understand. I won!” Shiffrin wrote on Instagram.
“…Thank you for pushing me. Thank you for always being kind and understanding and fierce and strong. Thank you for either leading the way or following right behind so that we, together, can break barriers and raise the level of our sport. I won. I f****** won. This, right here, is the lottery, and I won,” she added.
Gauff, Andreescu, Rennae Stubbs, and many other top names from various fields of expertise expressed their admiration for the legendary alpine skier.
“I cried reading this! I cried when you crossed the line! I cried because Mikaela, anyone who has competed at a high level knows those feelings! But to conquer them and achieve what u have not only today but every day is a testament to you, your mum, your team, and the man that raised you, and the work ethic and sacrifices u have made. Congratulations on 🥇legend! 👏👏” Stubbs commented.
“Goat🐐🥇” Gauff commented.
“Wowowowowwow!!!!” Andreescu commented.

Like Shiffrin, Gauff is determined to win her maiden silverware of the season as she makes a grand push for it in the Dubai Open (WTA 1000).
Coco Gauff Breathed a Sigh of Relief After Defeating Elise Mertens in a Thriller at Dubai Open
Gauff sealed a thrilling come-from-behind win against Elise Mertens in their round of 16 match at the Dubai Open on Wednesday. The 21-year-old American not only bounced back from an opening-set rout but also saved match points in the second set, winning it in a tiebreaker and then carrying the positive momentum into the decider, ultimately winning the match 2-6, 7-6, 6-3.
“The whole match felt like it wasn’t going my way. It wasn’t the best, but I just tried to stay in it, and I did fight for every point. I’m happy I was able to get the result today. Elise is a great player, so I just had to stay settled. I knew I could win; it was just [a matter] if I could find my game. And I did a little bit at times, and sometimes I didn’t, but it’s okay,” Gauff said in her post-game interview.
The two-time Grand Slam champion will now take on Alexander Eala in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
